Hi Meghan,

I am planning to organise a poetry slam competition in Bexley Business Academy between the 17th and the 30th of May. I aim to use modern poetry as a method to engage my students in topical issues, while allowing them to understand the evolution of language across the ages. More specifically, I hope they will enter a competition (across classes) whereby they develop their own poetry so as to understand the effects of manipulating language.

I was browsing through a variety of poetry websites and MySpace and came across your fantastic page. It would be great if we could discuss whether you would be comfortable coming into school and performing your poetry or even running a poetry workshop with students. The more access they have to poets from a variety of different backgrounds the better!

The school could finance your travel to and from the school, and could potentially finance any other costs you may incur.

Let me know whether you are interested (and if you know anyone else I could add to the list)

Regards,
Liz Gunstone
